Vogler went on to participate in multiple Indianapolis 500s during his career. Tragically, Rich Vogler was killed on July 21, 1990, during a USAC Silver Crown race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois, when he was struck by another car after a crash.
