We acquired the majority of his photo collection after his passing. The photo was taken by Al Steinberg, a well-known motorsport photographer active during this era of USAC Indy car racing. The handwritten annotations on the back place this at the Cal 500 at Ontario, dated 9/4, consistent with an early-to-mid 1970s Ontario Motor Speedway event.
