Bill Vukovich Sr. - 'The Mad Russian' - dominated the Brickyard in the early 1950s, winning back-to-back in 1953 and 1954 before tragically dying in a race accident at Indianapolis in 1955. His son, Bill Vukovich II, carried the family standard as a respected Indy car competitor through the 1960s and 1970s, qualifying for multiple 500s.
