He worked for Petersen Publishing, where he served as the publisher of Car Craft and later Hot Rod Industry News. TThe 1970 Ontario Motor Speedway Pro-Am was a celebrity race held in August 1970 to celebrate the opening of the "[Indianapolis of the West]" in Ontario, California.
